Versus Match Aliens invade our Earth but they miscalculated.

In this scenario an advanced race of Aliens with a tech level similar to what we see in Star Wars decides to invade our world. They had seen many of our media over the years that was broadcasted into the greater galaxy and deduced we would be easy to conquer. So they sent a massive fleet of ships and troops to conquer Earth. But when they arrive here to conquer us. They realize how off their calculations were. They thought like all other races they they encountered that we were the same size as them. But as it turns out by Galactic Standards. Earth Lifeforms and Humans in particular are freaking Kaiju sized. We are the same size as many of their combat ships. Individuals of their race are only 1 inch tall. And despite how advanced their tech is only their starships can take on a full grown well armed human. And even then we can destroy their ships.

So with the die cast they attempt to establish a beachhead on Earth. Their invasion fleet is only 50,000 ships with the largest being the size of a Pickup truck. They have blaster technology and their missiles are about as powerful as a really strong grenade. They have initiated their invasions in Central America, Africa, France, Vietnam, Texas and Australia. How does the war go for them. Well they be forced to flee from Earth.

Their Shield are the same as M1A2 armor. They don't have a Deathstar Laser. That is out of their tech scaling. They have a super huge population back on their home world. But they don't have millions of ships. They are still limited by how long it takes to make things.

It seems like I remember a series of skits with this premise years ago on America's Funniest Home Videos, claymation bits of an alien an inch tall trying to conquer earth and constantly getting squashed or otherwise humiliated due to being so small.

Well I'm presuming their blasters are less powerful than their missiles, else they'd only use blasters and not expendables in the first place. That being the case, their invasion ships would appear to be about on par with well-equipped infantry as far as firepower, possibly much more mobile depending on airspeed and flight characteristics.

The update on shields boosts them more up to the equivalent of armor. An Abrams is a pretty tough nut to crack so these ships won't be going down to small arms fire, it's going to take heavy ordnance. As these are shields it's possible massed rocket launcher fire will take them out where individual rockets can't penetrate an M1A2. Such ordnance is available to most of these nations, though. They can do a lot of damage and we'll probably do even more damage to our own cities putting them down. They're split among 6 locations so around 8300 ships per location.

8300 highly-mobile Abrams tanks is a heck of a problem to fight. The US I think only has about 10,000 of them itself. The aliens are going to be somewhat limited as to options, though, because they won't have much of a combined arms element, they're not going to be throwing down infantry platoons unless they're certifiably insane. Even then many of these countries will run out of rocket launchers before the aliens run out of ships and then it's going to come down to bombs, missiles, and artillery that will cause massive collateral damage. Being the scale they are, these aliens are quite unlikely to start their invasion anywhere but already inside major cities.

Their best bet is to avoid making it look like an invasion and instead pretend to be refugees or try to use diplomacy to get a beach head by playing off, say, Vietnam against China and promising alien technology support. Doesn't look like they'll do it that way, though. So win? I'm not seeing it. They'll get further in third world locations but all those locations are within bombing range of more advanced nations and once it becomes clear this is an attempted conquest of earth, bombers are going to be on the table even in foreign airspace. It'll be incredibly destructive, may even lose a good few cities if some idiot reaches for the nukes, and there'll probably be alien survivors hiding in mouseholes and scavenging under our floorboards for generations afterwards, but earth will still be human-owned at the end of the day.

You know thinking about it even if their battleships only have the firepower of infantry guns, if they have the tech to go ftl they can just shoot us from orbit. Now while the damage won’t be that big and you can be mostly safe inside with cover, if they have the scanners to do that it’s basically project insight and they could fuck up our economy hard by grinding things to a halt. They probably can’t occupy us but they could colonize us like the British did to China with unequal treaties.
