FWIW, I personally consider Thurmond a piece of shit for supporting Jim Crow with a straight face at the same time that he secretly had a half-black illegitimate daughter during his youth (whose biological relationship to him he kept hidden from the public during his entire life, albeit with him secretly paying for her college education):

This requires insanely blatant meddling since Thurmond wasn't even on the ballot in enough states to win.

The election is thrown out as obviously fraudulent if it happens with write-ins in the general election. If it happens in the electoral college the Electoral college is made a vote weighting mechanism only or outright abolished so that faithless electors become impossible. The election is also determined to be illegitimate.

It requires continuous mind control of everyone of importance for several years for this to hold up and such extensive and prolonged mind control makes speculation completely pointless. Only the will of the ASBs matter and they are unknowable.

Yep, so long as ASB control is loosened Thurmond likely gets impeached and removed from office immediately unless the Solid South decides to vote as a bloc to protect him.
