Alec Baldwin shoots 2 on set of western, 1 dead

From what they were saying is it was him showing her how he was going to do it before they filmed jt

Given the described sequence of events, it sounds like the armory cart had three prop guns prepped for the scene, including at least one "cold" one for rehearsal and one "hot" one for the live take. The assistant director egregiously broke safety rules by not waiting for the *armorer* who actually prepped the guns to give Baldwin the correct one, instead grabbing the "hot" gun himself and erroneously announcing that it was cold.

This is also consistent with multiple reports that the AD in question had a reputation for being dismissive of firearm safety procedures, and even being fired from a previous project after he caused a misfire incident. That should have been a red flag even before the two prior misfire incidents on the set of "Rust".

I checked New Mexico state law. The applicable criminal charge would be "involuntary manslaughter", a fourth degree felony which is defined as unintentional manslaughter committed during the course of non-felony criminal activity, *or* committed during the course of a lawful but dangerous act where "due caution and circumspection" was not exercised.

It's not entirely clear how the law may apply in cases where -- again, context specific safety procedures -- the person who failed to exercise due caution and circumspection was not necessarily the same person who actually pulled the trigger.

As someone who is regularly called a conspiracy theorist, even I have to say thinking this was a hit carried out by Baldwin is fucking retarded.

Now I want a movie framed around the exact premise of an actor moonlighting as a hitman, blatantly killing people and getting away by exploiting the fact that the police would never believe someone who stumbled into the station screaming how about Alec Baldwin was trying to kill them.

Like that one story about Bill Murray stealing a guy's fries, but with murder.

The Santa Fe Sheriff's Department released information from an interview with the armorer, who states that she checked the prop gun in question and secured it in the prop truck safe while the crew took a lunch break, although ammunition for it was left on the unsecured prop cart. As per industry safety protocol, *no* actual live (with bullets) ammunition was on set, only blanks.

IOW, it is starting to sound like Hall loaded the gun himself and handed it to Baldwin because he was in too much of a hurry to be bothered with safety protocol, and accidentally loaded it with blanks on the cart instead of dummy rounds.

It was probably a round left from the off-set target practice, that got mixed in with the dummies.

A realistic looking dummy and a real round are not easy to tell apart, for a non-expert.

Movie dummies are usually made from real rounds. The armorer will take the bullet out of a live round, dump the propellant, safely expend the primer in a test shot, then put the bullet back to produce a dummy round. The fact that such dummies are extremely difficult to distinguish from actual rounds is one reason that a cardinal safety rule is NO full rounds on the set, EVER -- any ammo needed to produce dummies or record effects is handled *off set* and kept under lock and key.

Well a dummy or squib is unlikely to go through one person and into another, so it would seem a live round ended up in with the dummies, or maybe that was a issue with the non-union crew.

Maybe they did another Brandon Lee, though you'd think that would be the one sort of malfunction they're extra careful to not have happen.

I mean really, if I accidentally killed someone, the best I could hope for would be being out on bail while the investigation was underway.

I'd be trying to help avoid another such incident from happening by saying everything I can think of about what might have gone wrong.

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.
Well this is turning into a real shit show fast. Turns out more than 3 people had their hands on that gun before the Shooting. Including Alec Baldwin earlier that very day. Investigators have said they are treating it as a Criminal Investigation.
That clicked like a CSI forensics scene after they scan for finger prints.

Yeah, but you are poor people. Anyone (who actually matters, ergo the rich and powerful) knows that the poor are filthy subhumans, barely fit to carry out the orders of their natural superiors. People like Baldwin can't face consequences. Where would we be then otherwise?! /s

I believe what was previously stated was that only three people had the combination to the gun safe in the prop truck, not that only three people had ever touched the gun.
