Is this good or bad....

The state of Blizzard games is abysmal. It's hard to fathom how it could possibly get worse. That being said, this doesn't mean that Blizzard will get better (see what Microsoft did to Rare). It seems that this acquisition was primarily for Call of Duty and Candy Crush.

Blizzard as a development studio is in shambles. I guess maybe the Blizzard IPs might have been a secondary objective to license out to competent devs, but Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo haven't been household names in over a decade. Young gamers probably don't know what those are.

It's a bad thing. From now on we're going to have to call them Activision-Blizzard-Microsoft which is a lot more letters to have to type.

No idea how it will influence the games.
Microsoft will be first.
Though Microsoft will probably not care enough to add thier name.
Didn't with 343 or Bethesda

Eh. THey have a point in some aspects. It can help with hackers

If hackers hack Microsoft I couldn't care crap about a company who was founded by a friend of Epstein, who is mandating vaxxes worldwide. Not to mention all the crappy stuff they have done in the past and surely will do in the future. If it wasn't unpracticable for me , I would pirate their software no sweat.

The future problems outweigh the short term benefits.

It's a goddamn hydra that should be metaphorically cut down.

Blizzard is still relevant. Warcraft has almost 5 million monthly subscribers, Overwatch still has a lot of fans who would come back for Overwatch 2.

Starcraft is pretty dead in the west, and Diablo is just plain dead.

not to sound like a consperacy theorist, but I have a feeling we'll need to learn how to pirate if we want to use software, and forage for everything else. The Great Reset maybe coming sooner than we think.

Yeah, Sony has to respond to this somehow.

I have a feeling that they will feel compelled to make a big purchase of a studio to secure it as another Playstation exclusive.

Big brain take: If I were Sony I would buy Take 2. Sony doesn't need to buy any Japanese companies - any corp that attempts to buy a large Japanese company faces significant opposition from the Japanese government - but buying Take 2 would get Sony a LOT of exclusives.

Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption would fit in very well in Sony's catalogue of high quality first party games.

They'd also get plenty of other franchises in the deal. A lot of sports games especially, which would be VERY valuable.

And all of those would also be denied to Microsoft in the console wars.

The other reason to buy Take 2 is that if the Microsoft purchasing spree continues, Take 2 is kind of the natural next "big" target. If Microsoft purchased Take 2 as well, I would be very skeptical of Sony's ability to compete in the future.

Does Sony have the money for that?
And Take 2 is not liked for its scheme of making money

Sony has about $44 billion cash on hand.

Take 2's current market cap is $20 billion.

If they bid $25 billion they could probably convince them to sell.

Its pricey but they're not buying Take 2 just for its own return, they are buying it to get high quality exclusives to counter Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda and Activision Blizzard.

Well here's a list of the valuation of other big game companies.

Other than Take 2, pretty much none of these make sense for one of the following reasons:

EA is too expensive
Nexon, Embracer, and Netmarble are too low-brow/AA.
Konami is basically a gambling stock at this point, not a gaming stock. They do slot machines.
Bandai Namco, Square Enix, Capcom, and Sega are all in Japan and thus probably relatively safe from foreign purchase by Microsoft, though they are possible.
Ubisoft is French, definitely not happening, France is very protectionist.
