Remember when Metallica used to be an outspoken critic of Napster twenty years ago? Some of you old aged pirates may find some irony here.

Sadly it seems like the Music World is still struggling mightily with the digital age. Apparently Metallica's performance at Blizzcon was dubbed over on the official Twitch stream by some alternative instrumentals. Twitch took down their remix but thankfully the Internet remembers...

A Senior Artist at Blizzard Entertainment issued a Tweet looking for new talent and the rumor is that based on the hiring list, Blizzard is potentially developing a new First Person Shooter type of game for this unannounced PC/Console project.

Another day, another round of Blizzard layoffs. Arent mergers fun?

But more seriously, these fifty layoffs apparently largely pertain to Blizzard related esports and other live events which took a hit during the pandemic alledgedly.

In happier unrelated news Activision- Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick has reportedly earned a $200 million dollar cash payout based on the performance of the companies share price which has increased 66% since December of 2019.

At least this time they got a pretty sweet deal, with 12 months of healthcare and 3 months severance package.

That's a good point, especially since three rounds of layoffs in the past six months ain't going to be it apparently.

The fourth round will apparently target Blizzards European offices in Germany, France, Spain, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands and will be limited to those who work in the publishing parts of the company, not in game development, operations or customer support.

Jeff Kaplan (one of the original WoW devs, and the director of Overwatch) has left Blizzard.

Jeff Kaplan was probably the most respected man (by the fans) who was still left at Blizzard. He was very charismatic like Metzen and Morhaime, and he gave off the impression that he was listening to the playerbase (even when the dev team did the opposite of what the players wanted). He interacted with people on the forums and recorded a lot of videos where he replies to comment and explains what they're thinking. Tough luck for the new guy who becomes the new Overwatch director, as he is almost certainly going to get slammed hard like Hazzikostas and Brack for not being able to live up to his predecessor.

At this point, I think the only big name that is still left at Blizzard is Samwise Didier (the guy who did most of the iconic art and character designs, like Illidan or Pandaren and Orcs, etc), but the last thing he worked on was Heroes of the Storm, which went into maintenance mode years ago, so IDK what he's actually doing anymore.

And I guess there is Russell Brower, the WoW composer, but the last Blizzard game he really composed for was the Legion expansion. Starting with BFA, he just does the music for the cutscenes.

And so another studio dies, its skin ripped off and worn by a gibbering leftard that demands the respect his better once got.

Blizzard-Activision CEO and Gaming Anti-Christ as foretold in the Book of Revelations, Bobby Kotick, had his contract extended to March of 2023 but it comes with a substantial paycut. He voluntarily reduced his base salary by 50% and his target annual bonus by 50%.

Bobby Kotick has been heading the company since 2000 and during the past twenty years, has seen the growth of Activisions Market Capitalization grow from $10 million to $70 billion dollars, an over 8000% increase. However his salary came under fire from company shareholders leery over excessive executive pay and the impression that he singlehandedly led to the growth of the company.

Bobby Kotick's net worth is reportedly $600 million dollars, much of it tied into four million Activision shares he holds which are worth close to $300 million dollars on their own.

Diablo II: Resurrected re-re-releases Diablo II
on something called the Blizzard Store.

Also Shang Chi is going to be in it... Or just the trailer. I don't know.

Looks like desperate pandering to China.

I don't think the hiring of Simu Liu himself is pandering to China. There's been media speculation his non-fawning comments regarding the ChiComs helped sink Shang Chi's marketing campaign in China actually.

Though it's entirely plausible there is China PANDAering simply by having a Chinaman (I believe that's the appropriate term) doing the trailer.

It's apparently the 25th Anniversary of the Diablo franchise whose first game was released in late December of 1996.

Just saw quite the claim. Supposedly, Microsoft is buying Blizzard.
