Sison is... sorry... was.. the founder of the Philippine Communist Party whose military wing, the New Peoples Army, has been responsible for a fifty plus year ongoing insurgency in the Philippines that has killed over forty t housand people! He died in self exile in the Netherlands at the age of 83.
As of recently, the NPA has been much reduced in size from its heyday, estimated at being less then a tenth of its peak strength which was over 20,000 fighters back in 1986 when the Dictator Ferdinand Marcos was overthrown.
