This article is a bit older but the South Korean "4b movement" is currently gaining traction among liberal cis/straight women in the U.S.
Trump truly broke their feeble little minds.

impeachment proceedings have officially begun.
This is a blow to the DPRK hawks Yoon has surrounded himself with. This may turn out to be a bigger disaster than most people are anticipating.

Yoon hit the one button he should never have pushed. The minute he did he was a dead man walking. This isn't the mid 20th century. It's a lot harder to become a dictator unless you are in a country that is far more use to it.
Personally, I liked Park Chung-hee & Chun Doo-hwan including Park Geun-hye (Daddy Park's daughter) much better especially Daddy Park & Chun because neither of them put up with the bullshit.

I seriously hope the National Assembly isn't that STUPID to remove Yoon from office.

I doubt they will actually remove him.

Except he needs hawks.
The fact that the DPRK is getting away with so much and is getting experience is crazy

Anyone who knows Korean politics care to elaborate on wth this was? It seems way too goofy to be real especially during a time when tensions are rising with the North and this country needs to have the US population on its side.

Agreed. I think I meant to say his hawkish agenda is at risk of collapsing due to this. And as far as him being removed goes, it could really go either way 50/50 at this point. The legislature voted against him 190-0, so if they want him around, he'll stay around. But if they want him gone, he's gone. It really depends on what the congress is going to do next.

From what I have heard, he was deeply unpopular with the Korean public. His approval rating was at 17%. He was on the verge of being impeached and this was him trying to stop that. The military was going through the motions because technically it was a legal order. Basically he is fucked even worse than if he had done nothing.

I'm a little late, but if you want to know more than here is some context as to why the president was desperate. Otherwise, @nemo1986 did a good summary.
There have been more than 22 impeachment attempts at different parts of the presidents government. One of them was against his wife.
There has been an ongoing strike in the medical sector over a proposal to deploy medical students as an active part of the medical system. This is however, partial supporters by both the opposition and the government. But the biggest blame has been placed on the government and the president.

No party has managed to get the budget through.

The opposition (192) with a majority of 192 seats is above the 180 seat threshold needed to quickly pass legislation through the assembly without input from the People Power government (108). This means that the presidential party has no real say in which new bills are passed.
But the opposition does not have the 200 seats needed to prevent the president from vetoing their proposal. The president has been quite liberal with his veto and the threat it poses to every bill that passes.

People Power doesn't seem to know about the declaration of martial law before it happened. Even the majority of the cabinet seemed to be in the dark about it. The declaration seemed to have been poorly planned and some kind of gamble that failed spectacularly.

Government (108) People Power
Opposition (192) Democrats (170)Rebuilding Korea (12)

Context 2024 South Korean medical crisis, 2025 Budget Problems, Dior bag scandal, impeachment

Opposition parties submit impeachment bill against Yoon

For the bill to introduce an impeachment for the president to pass, the opposition needs 9 seats from the president's party to vote for. This seems a likely possibility with 13 seats voting against the emergency martial law. And loud critics in the president's own party against the president's actions of martial law.

Nordic delegations due to land in the coming days have said they will postpone indefinitely. The Swedish Prime Minister said this when asked what this will mean for relations between the Nordic countries and South Korea. "- We don't know that yet and we have to get clear on that. South Korea has robust institutions, but all this has to be sorted out in South Korea by South Koreans"
