Wait, are you telling me they fired a HIMARS at a base, knowing that there was a concert going on? Please tell me that's a joke. Because that's really fucked up.

I agree with you, but liberals might not. Liberals within and outside of Ukraine will not be happy at a third party being forced to relocate (and to where? Russia again?). I think aside from cheap labor, the Russians are hoping this will cause internal turmoil within Ukraine and NATO.

Oh, that's a nasty curve ball. If the Ukrainians drive out the Russians, they'll be dealing with a third party of alien settlers. It'd either be drive them out or let them stay. Either choice would create problems.

Probably. The war is probably hurting his electric car business. It's little wonder why he wants it to end. He probably feels as though a peace deal would be win-win. Musk doesn't seem to understand that it's too late for that. Too many people have died in Ukraine and Russia has been...

To be entirely fair, that's probably the most merciful thing the Russians have done in months. That's a very low bar, but it will presumably a) get the children out of a warzone, b) prevent said children from being raped, tortured, and murdered by the Russian army, and c) killed when the...

It's obviously defensive. No doubt they're concerned that Russia is so desperate and angry that they might force Belarus into attacking. Given the CIA penetration into Russian communications, that may be an indication that this is being planned. In which case, given the amount of energy and...

As things stand, I don't think the Russians are done yet. They still have a great deal more resources they can draw upon. From what I've seen, the general takeaway here is that Russia can't keep going because it isn't politically viable and Putin is only doing this because he's an asshole...

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Putin needs nuclear weapons to take the Dnieper River line, but his other option is to send waver after wave of troops until he grinds down the Ukrainian military. Given what I've seen in regards to Russian history, that is probably what he's going to favor...

Eh, the Soviet Union did not murder Russia. Russia has always been a brutal dictatorship propped up by oligarchs or nobles. It has had that same system of government since the Mongols took over the place centuries ago. Governments tend to continue with the same system of government for...

To be fair to Zelensky (and I have no love for the man), that's probably SOP when a foreign power invades your land and there are parties siding with the invader. I can promise you that the US would do the same in a heartbeat. Hell, we did worse with interment camps for Japanese citizens during...

Not to defend Ritter at all, but invading Iraq was not serving American interests. You don't serve American interests by lying about the purpose of an invasion that gets American men and women killed. In fact, I would argue that given that America is for the people, by the people--that lying to...

The issue is that the Russian leadership very likely views this as an existential threat. Even more so given the massive setbacks this campaign has seen. Heavy losses? Sure, they probably foresaw that. Being driven from Kiev? No, I don't think so. This will have made the Russians less secure...
