    The War in Afghanistan

I imagine we could at least find out if any of them never came home; because by this point they're probably not trying to get out or contact our government because they're dead.

    The War in Afghanistan

If I knew that, I wouldn't be asking. I just want to know if anybody was still stuck there that we should have gotten out in the evacuation; because I haven't heard anything about that in months, and the last thing I heard was that there were still American citizens stranded in Afghanistan.

    The War in Afghanistan

So, um; how many United States citizens are still stuck in Afghanistan?

    The War in Afghanistan

If I had an easy answer, I'd give you one. But doing the same thing, over and over again, expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Our current strategy isn't working; in fact, using it works against us, in that it provides our enemies with all the justification they need for...

    The War in Afghanistan

Seven. Dead. Children. There is no justifications for that; although the fact that you're trying your damnedest to find one quite frankly sickens me.

    The War in Afghanistan

We're already letting people get away with aggression against western countries; or are you going to argue that those seven children were guilty of that? What we're doing now isn't working; our enemies often escape unharmed, or turn out to have never been there in the first place, and we just...

    The War in Afghanistan

Sounds rather costly and difficult, in order to ensure that seven children are dead. Maybe they should, you know, not do that? Just a thought.

    The War in Afghanistan

A fair point; but regardless, the seemingly inevitable collateral damage involved in these kinds of operations are unacceptable. Maybe we need that risk; so that those making the decisions don't do so on a whim, and as a consequence needlessly murder innocent civilians.

    The War in Afghanistan

The use of drone strikes ought to be deemed a war crime, and banned.

    The War in Afghanistan

In individual battles, maybe; but we've lost every single war we've been involved in since the second World War, in large part because of that mindset that keeps rejecting the very idea of our government and military being accountable to the American people.

    The War in Afghanistan

This is news to people? This is what happens with drone strikes; collateral damage and false positives are par for the course. It's why I oppose the practice altogether; it just doesn't work a lot of the time, and kills way too many innocent people.

    The War in Afghanistan

So you're just not going to address the fact that they should have never followed the order to immediately and haphazardly withdraw, abandoning American citizens in the process; not to mention the whole "murdering children" part, huh? I see how it is; at this point, if our military opened fire...

    The War in Afghanistan

So, not when the government orders you into that position? Or when they order you to murder innocent children?

    The War in Afghanistan

When is it worth it to disobey orders then? Because it seems like it never is.

    The War in Afghanistan

Except the job almost always seems to be at odds with what's actually good for American citizens; and thus far, most of you guys have proven to be unwilling to disobey the orders of the establishment. Even when it orders you to abandon American citizens, allow women to be carted off to be...

    The War in Afghanistan

Individual service members? Specifically amongst American citizens? Maybe; but the institutions as a whole, especially on the international stage? Not only no; but hell no.

    The War in Afghanistan

Not like this; the past week has gone so far beyond the pale, I can't see how either our government or our military makes it out with their reputations intact. Not for nothing this is being compared unfavorably to what happened in Vietnam. And you do? I was talking about the people on the...

    The War in Afghanistan

Even if they're not, something like that would be the final nail in the coffin for our reputation in the Middle East. Honestly, after this debacle is all over, I doubt anyone in that part of the world will be willing to help us ever again; at least not for several generations.

    The War in Afghanistan

Cowardice is courage; just like war is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength.
