    Welp that didn't happen

No, didn't bother, haven't really been following the race.

Republicans have a bad trend of picking losers this year.

Northern VA, in Rob Wittman's district, right outside of the district Hung Cao is running for.

I certainly would, if I saw them doing so.

Fixation on race isn't funny, my man.

Kind of serious. It's not good to be fixated on race like that.

Yeah, I posted about him in the thread months ago. He's cool, but why did you feel the need to mention the race of his wife?

Well that's an easy prediction, like I've said. The Virginia governor's race is offset from the nationwide presidential election by just a year, so the opposite party usually rides the wave of discontent with the president to win in VA. That's basically what happened last year.

Maybe they shouldn't have gone all in on critical race theory and pretending there's no danger letting boys use girls' bathrooms in public schools. ;)

Warner could be vulnerable. He only won the race against Ed Gillespie in 2014 by a hair's breadth. If a Republican wins presidency in 2024, yeah it's almost guaranteed a Dem will win Virginia Governor in 2025. That's just been the pattern of history, the Virginia Governor being the opposite...

I think the seat is winnable, but it will be a tough race. If Cao wins though I'd like to see him hold the seat for a while. With regards to US senator, I'm hopeful that Glenn Youngkin will make a run for senator after his term as governor, assuming that term ends well. Due to the no consecutive...

He's got a tightrope to walk in the district between not leaning too far into "Trumpism" and alienating traditional Republicans with a distaste for Trump (I consider myself in that category), while also keeping Trump supporters in the coalition and motivated to go vote. It's a similar balance...

Retired Navy captain Hung Cao won a crowded primary by ranked vote to become the Republican nominee for Virginia's 10th Congressional District. That's Loudoun and Prince William counties in Northern VA, I used to live there. It was a red district for a long time in under congressman Frank...

So I haven't posted since before the election happened, when it looked like the election was a foregone conclusion in McAuliffe's favor. It was quite something to see education, critical race theory and trans incident coverups in schools take precedent in the election. Youngkin must have been...

Well again, I haven't been following the race closely. I know Youngkin was "caught" on a hidden camera answering a question about abortion, saying he's not "going soft" on abortion but that he can't really talk about it until he's elected and has a GOP majority in the state legislature, then...

That's encouraging. Though some of Youngkin's campaign ads I've seen have been... underwhelming. Not that it will change how I vote, but it seems unlikely to swing undecided voters.

I mean McCauliflower is a known entity in VA, he's already served once as governor. The unfortunate reality is that VA has leaned further and further blue since then, so it's unlikely voters will turn against him now.

Facebook advertised Terry McCauliflower to me as "the first Virginia governor to preside over a same sex marriage!" and "opposed restricting abortion, because we need more women's health care, not less!" Well I know who I'm not voting for in Nov.
