It's been a long time since I've listened to Rush so I'm gonna assume it's Modern Conservatism/Classical Liberalism/Enlightenment. And from what I can gather he's largely self-employed and pays for airtime.

Rush isn't an intellectual, and frankly doesn't need to be such. I don't see any failure here in the clip you've posted, maybe he's wrong about the root cause of NeverTrumperism, but let's be honest, career politicians like that are never going to give a straight answer. What Rush does is make...

If you are looking for a single person who's going to be St. George slaying the dragon, you're going to be looking for a very long time. You of all people should know, the Cathedral is far too big for any single person to take head on. This is a group effort.

You might want to lead with that line I bolded, next time.

I mean I would argue that there's benefit as well as cost to an unwillingness to use authoritative power. Though I think the disagreements really do boil down to personal preferences when you dig deep enough down. I tend towards wanting as little government as is possible while still having...

Where would you say modern Classical Liberals and Libertarians fail in that regard? Is it simply a lack of coherence? I've found the most compelling voices to be those who've had a good long time to work out a grounded philosophy.

These kinds of questions are important, after all there's no perfect system out there. And I'll agree with LordsFire here and say the Right has very much been doing that, it's been adapting to all sorts of Leftist garbage being spewed. Perhaps the pertinent question is "What are we missing?"...

@The Name of Love if you are willing, I'd like to ask this. How much can Liberalism be a component of a future philosophy for the Right, in your eyes?

That isn't something you want to happen. Especially when there's no replacement for Liberalism available. Creating a new philosophy takes time, after all. And that's assuming people are willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

The thing is, one can do both, in a sense. Advancing current political theory and doing everything in your power to halt the doomed theories pervading modern culture aren't mutually exclusive. I can't say I'm willing to give up on it. If there's a chance, however slim, I think we owe it to...

I have seen it. I just feel so damn frustrated with all this. My understanding of being an American is that it invokes a certain promise. And that promise is being withheld, not just to us, but to future generations by people that you can't simply vote out. And that pisses me off so damn much.

I see... Apologies to @The Name of Love then. Though I admit I'm not convinced it's all so hopeless, that there's no rolling this back.

I'm well aware the Left doesn't give a fuck. And I'm well aware SCOTUS can biff it hard. That doesn't really answer my question, though. What parts of the Constitution are not worth protecting? To be additionally clear, in the context of ideas, or laws necessary for a society.

Alright, let's walk this through. What parts of the Constitution do you think are a lost cause or otherwise not worth fighting for? Freedom of Speech? Bearing Arms? Private Property ala the Fifth?

What do you ask of Conservatives who very much do want to preserve the Constitution, then? Especially those that are well aware of the scope of the Left's influence.
