Only you have few personal freedoms in Singapore. Note that for most of its history, Singapore had one leader. And a dictatorship lasts fine while it has a good leader. The issue is getting the next leader to be competent at ruling, not just taking power, because since he's making the decisions...

Democracy ain't great, but there simply isn't anything better. Anarchism sadly doesn't last, and dictatorship of whatever form always ends badly.

Without a globalized economy, we'd be even more fucked, as Biden would be fucking with the entire market of oil supplies, instead of 'just' the local stuff. Never forget, it can always be worse. Honestly, part of the problem of the current inflation is excessive tariffs on importing goods...

Other than one of the biggest unforced blunders in American history, costing us trillions, and distracting us from hunting Osama? He expanded the government a ton, not just with the homeland security but also with the concept of 'compassionate conservatism' which meant he'd expand Medicare, and...

No, those alternate numbers just aren't correct. 9% inflation (an approximate eyeball'd average of the blue line during the period) from about 2000 to 2020 would mean prices would need to have multiplied by 5 (actually about 5.6 times, but the 9% is very approximate), and they just didn't. Just...

That will not work with the sanctions regime the US has got. Typical repackaging is about the first thing that gets you hit for helping evading sanctions, and is a great way to get added to the list. India wouldn't go on immediately, but they'd get pressured not to, and eventually put on if they...

Toss money slowly into an index fund, especially after a downturn. Active investment is a bad idea, and paying people to do it (mutual funds/hedge funds) is also bad.

US's natural monopolies (just natural gas for heating, water, and electricity) are regulated, but still not by a national price fixer. Gas (as for cars) isn't a natural monopoly. As for them being common throughout Europe, that's because socialism is common throughout Europe. And price-fixing...

What I'm saying, is that if you have price controls on gas, you likely have price controls on a lot of other things (maybe food!). Each price control has harmed you far more than this raise in gas prices just now. Price controls one of the classic reasons communism doesn't work, for example.

From your post, here's part of your problem: "The regulator will announce the new price on May 10 - after a new, closed meeting. " You got price controls (at least, AFAICT), and probably not just here. That's harming you long term more than any gas price.

Basically for a very long time. See, we can postpone the inevitable as long as China keeps buying our debt, but China literally can't afford not to cause they have so much of our debt. And China can't afford an economic downturn. Or more accurately, the CCP can't. People tolerate them as long as...

The inflation damage has already been done with the "infrastructure" package and other spending. It's a (then somewhat, now entirely) supply side shock, which is the kind of recession one can't spend their way out of. And so, oddly enough, the blow is right for once, just not in any positive...
