The South African Army is doing some large (for them) scale military exercises at the moment and publicizing some cool and pretty pictures of their military equipment (that is still operable) including their Gripens, Attack Helicopters and what I think are the coolest looking, their somewhat...

The C-17 can carry two M10 Bookers supposedly as opposed to one of pretty much any other main battle tank apparently. And transporting an Abrams via a C-17 requires a long period of work including the removal of the side skirts apparently and the use of an M88 or equivalent vehicle for air...

It's primary role seems to be as an assault gun that engages enemy armored vehicles in general, as well as defensive structures, bunkers, and the like, with tank engagements being a secondary concern. And it's armored on the level of more heavy IFV's. So while Mobile Protected Firepower is a...

If it's only going to Airborne Units (and some National Guard units) then it will be used in conjunction with other assets and troops that the Airborne has, not in US Army Armored or Mechanized Brigades/Divisions except at a beyond divisional/brigade level.

Probably room for a vehicle to replace the Armored Humvees that have shown neccessity as well as smaller truck based vehicles like the traditional Humvee was. I thought the US Army or Military in general did have a standard pickup truck or SUV or something, maybe I'm mistaken. *checks* *still...

Some of these trucks are armored, so it counts. Battle Order Video on Mexico's Truck Based Motorized Cavalry Corps! The mighty Chevrolet Cheyenne serving alongside the Dodge Ram 2500 and Ford F-150 among many other vehicles including disappointing boring and traditional lightly armored...

Nothing wrong with license built main battle tanks, especially if the South Korean ones are as good as advertised. Well I mean there is some problems... but generally speaking if you want to break into tank production... it's probably cheaper and more effective and practical.

I just learned the M113 Gavin APC was one of the first mechanized military vehicles in history, over a century in operation. Strange how the M113 could exist decades before the fame of it's namesake, General James Gavin but there you go. Of course the Canadians would affix wooden wagon...

Oh nice I found the original post that informed me of this. Things have obviously changed since 2022. I know German firms are talking about building a new Leopard Tank Factory in Ukraine for example. And multiple countries have the possibility of building new tanks ranging from France to...

No I'm pretty sure my recollection is correct in that they are just refurbishing old tank hulls at Lima. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/tank-manufacturing-plant-in-small-ohio-city-plays-big-role-in-ukraine-war I will say in clarification in that I was referring to the Detroit Arsenal or...

There is a shortage of tank manufacturing in the West though so there could be demand to fill in there. IIRC as of the Russian Invasion back in 2022, there was only one tank manufacturing plant in all of NATO, and it was a Greek one owned by German companies. Everyone else, Britain and the...

I remember reading about those not too long ago. I think I made a joke they were being sent to Ukraine in exchange for new Leopard 2's from Germany.

The Swedes and Irish used armored land submarines during their peacekeeping missions in the Congo. They would've been more widely utilized but they were apparently underarmored and vulnerable to the keel breaking when driving over potholes, deep trenches in the roads or speedbumps. Surplus...
