Oh wow thanks, honestly I was inspired by the stuff you guys wrote 10-20 years ago. I don't know if it's the ever changing nature of fandoms or people having shorter attention spans.

But there was something grand in the stories you guys told that's so rare in modern fanfiction. So if I can recapture just a fraction of that then I am happy.

It is a reason I am so glad to see your work. You have made the effort, you are in it for the craft. Too many write purely for praise or clout, they aren't doing it to share a story but for some sort of selfish action.
It is clear you care for the setting and most importantly for getting it done right and with respect. This is a story that could stand alongside the fics from back then as an equal, and compared to the shite most stuff is today, a clear superior.
I'd spend actual money on this

Thank you, coming from someone I recall being a pro writer that means a lot. I keep getting told to set up a substack because I'd draw a lot of viewers and make money but I dunno, I'd rather keep to fiction and avoid articles on current events and the legions of angry mobs outside my house that would probably generate:p

Yeah, I think you're right about people writing for clout chasing. Which seems, to hollow to me? If your goal is to tell a story, then you should tell it and let it stand on its own. Praise like that loses its value when its just variations of the same four words. I guess that also explains why so many modern fanfic writers abandon their works huh?

I picked Stargate for the sheer potential in material and story telling, because I loved it and because it's the one franchise that's probably one of the most influential on sci fi adventures stories without a lot of people really realizing what they're influenced by. I just hope I can keep entertaining.

And the big twists I've got coming aren't botched :ROFLMAO:

Execution and character accuracy are my banes, but I'm happy to have 'em.

Yeah, its the difference between being a writer and an entertainer. Most just entertain, they deliver shallow hits for the soyjak crowd eliciting squees and then fading into the background noise. Frankly embarrassing to share an internet with such people :p But you are a writer, a far more meaningful title

I think you'd write excellent original fics. You are setting this in SG but the world building and texture is easily enough to stand as its own world. I would strongly recommend taking what you have learned here and trying something of your own. You could easily make it work and I can promise you one sale at least!

SG is a great setting, personally I prefer the earlier seasons with maximum O'Neill but it is all excellent. It is grounded, it has probably the best rounded characters in sci fi and it has scope from the tiny to the galaxy changing. What's not to love? Of course as you say doing justice to such good characters is hard as hell, writing Vala was brutal when I tried :p But you are hitting the right notes and if you can handle these characters, you can handle anything

"Writing for living soyjacks" boy that's the most succinct summary I've ever seen. And its accurate as well... That's what turned me off of SB's CRW. well that and it looks like they started banning people for writing character's that aren't PC. I won't even go back there and look at what anyone's created there because I just assume its stifled and circular.

Thank you... Lord knows there's a dearth of people who care and with so many outlets to self publish on it's easier to avoid having to deal with woke and corporate culture to put stuff out there. I may try one day.

As for Vala, yeah I don't think I could do her justice at all, the character's deceptively "simple" and Claudia Black had so much fun playing her. No one else could have done that.

And yeah, I do plan to keep Jack as one of the central POV's, he's too much of an every man if action heroesque as Russel interpreted him. way too much so to pass up, it's been fun to write him and a lot of fun to write people interacting with him.

I respect you went with Russel's O'Neil and tied in more to the movie, not the easy choice but certainly the right one. I wouldn't have taken that risk so props for that.
Agreed SB got bland and shallow, and is the definition of 'popular, not good' which is a virus. Lack of vision and lack of skill unfortunately, I make no apologies for sounding elitist, I'm not wasting time on substandard material nor should anyone :p
Keep doing what you are doing, it works.
