NYC Police Union Endorses President Trump's Re-Election Campaign

Looks like the NYPD is pissed off enough at the Dems for their Union to actually endorse a candidate this year and they've endorsed President Trump. The President accepted the endorsement in person (after being escorted to the location by NYPD) and then gave a speech attacking the Democratic Party.

"I have 36 years in this job, 21 as president of this fine organization," New York Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch says. "I cannot remember when we've ever endorsed for the office of president of the United States. Until now. That's how important this is."

Now obviously law enforcement unions have more reason than most at the moment to support the President and the Republican party but it does really make one wonder if perhaps some actual labor unions (not government ones of course) might be in play.

I mean when I think of an American worker, I'm not really visualising some far left intersectionalist, could this be a sign to expect more cases of "I didn't leave the Democrat Party, the Democrat Party left me"?

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.
If the elected Democrat officials did their fucking jobs this wouldn't have happened. There was an arrangement and they broke it by throwing the police under the bus.

Police Unions don't really fit into modern Dem politics. (Well really unions don't in general except as money spigots).

Probably unless said unions are for "more cultured and relevant" jobs, not so much as ones like being an accountant or doctor, no for being a "journalist(blogger)" or an "artist" of poor quality

Starbucks baristas are more cultured and relevant than they are. At least they produce a product I might buy from time to time, even if I find it to be a bit too pretentious and bit too Hisptery, rather than Hipster adjacent... Just because Hipsters like something, doesn't make it bad, or rather they pretend to like it. Do something because you like it, not because of the status or because of faux authenticity.

Avocado is tasty, but I would say putting it on toast is wasteful. Might be nice for a fancy salad, in Mexican food, or on a nice burger. When was the last time I had it, maybe a few weeks ago in guac on a burrito...

Anyways, this is good, it weakens Trump's opposition. I hope that we can use this as a carrot and stick situation to force the police into proper reform, to minimize the problems we currently have with it. Such as storming into people's houses and gunning them down, shooting dogs for no reason, and so on.

The outrage isn’t on stuff like that though, they just care about the whole evil racist cop narrative than any stupid impulsive brutality

I am also concerned with certain institutional problems, including but not limited to the cops covering for the wrongdoing of other members. It should be, but they are too stupid to see it, and when there actually is some black guy that they should screech about getting killed and use as a drum to keep on beating, they fucking forget them! I'd actually like to agree on police reform, and not have to defend the police, because some thug got themselves killed, or fritter away what common ground we could have like with Floyd. It is obvious it wasn't murder, but it is obvious the cops screwed up to one degree or another, since it was obvious that Floyd was having some sort of medical episode. Though even if the cops screwed up, it doesn't mean they screwed up in such a way that means they are guilty of a crime, or are morally culpable, this is probably a situation where it is an understandable screw up which a reasonable person might make.

Problem with Unions, is that when you think about it, they will standby even the worst of their own and allow for the incompetents to remain employed or not have their stuff leaked

I expect for this support for Trump to be temporary, if Trump actually wants police reform, they might get desperate enough to back to the Dems who will change their tune rather easily with the media not pointing out the previous recent tune

If they can work together on the other hand, I expect the police unions to actually deal with the rot within and to also do things like extra training, more body armor, more practice to avoid shooting unnecessarily and doing buddy-cops and having closer ties to the communities they're policing

Feh, the only way to have avocados is the Brazilian way - as a dessert. With sugar on it. It's hilarious, seeing a Mexican's reaction to it.
