New York Post said:The South Korean tech giant is considering two locations in Arizona and one in New York in addition to a site in Austin, Texas, where it’s seeking nearly $1.5 billion in tax breaks for the semiconductor facility, according to documents filed with Lone Star State officials.
Samsung said it’s in “active negotiations” with the other three potential hosts, each of which has offered a combination of property tax abatements, grants or tax credits to support the “highly competitive” project.
While Austin is the only confirmed location, other reported possibilities for the Chip Plant apparently include two different locations in Phoenix, Arizona and the business campus in Genesee County, New York. It is stated that the Corporation is obviously seeking certain tax breaks and other benefits while the new plant itself will bring an estimated 1800 jobs to the area. Samsung already operates a chip fabrication facility at Samsung Austin Semiconductor in Texas.
