I wonder what people think of EA's stunning and brave new football game:

Madden 21 Has Historically Low Review Scores; What’s Wrong With The Game?

And that is just the "game critics" (the most appallingly useless of all useless professions). What about the actual fans?

Holy shit :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

To put this in perspective, that isn't a 4 out of 10... that's a 0.4 out of 10. I'm sure Madden players have already been called white-supremacist Gamergaters. Although Madden NFL 20 had a 1.4/10 user score on the same site, so it's not just seething about Kaepernick (I wonder how many "games journalists" will remember that, but I'll bet you could count them on one finger).

Madden is but one shining jewel in EA's crown of turds. While we're on the subject, did you know EA has the exclusive right to make NFL-based games? It's a position they secured by screwing NFL 2K out of existence after 2K's 2005 release was better than (and half the price of) EA's offering. The other big football video game (also owned by EA) was NCAA Football, which was discontinued in 2013 due to vicious legal feuding with the NCAA itself. What is the average time elapsed between a corporation gaining monopoly status over a product line and said corporation attempting to force-feed its customers garbage?

This is nothing new, obviously. EA makes its money by screwing over badly-run developer studios and establishing monopolies on desirable brands. They made a deal with Lucasfilm for exclusive Star Wars rights in 2013, and they've made a grand total of four (shitty) games from it (one of which is just a refresh of another one). They're so intent on screwing their business partners that they can't be bothered to produce games for a franchise that guarantees truckloads of nerd money for minimal effort. Of course the sports side is the same story.

They've also pushed microtransactions hard. Apparently this can be profitable—especially in the mobile space, where retarded whales fork over thousands of dollars to customize Star Wars and Marvel characters on mobile games I've never even heard of. They epitomize the corporate effort to turn nerd consumerism into a glorified drug cartel, exploiting the mental weakness of nerds to spend all their discretionary income (why save money when you're already in debt, right?) on some pixels. It's the kind of thing that should result in one of those "moments of clarity" that alcoholics talk about, but of course it never does.

This is mostly a thread for complaining about EA, if you can't tell.

Its absurd how much EA likes to milk Madden .

This is what EA does when it's not putting out shitty, antiquated bunk filled with laziness, scamming and $900 of "microtransactions" to get a character as basic as Darth Vader in a Star Wars game.

Gee, thanks. You shouldn't have.

It beggars belief that they are carrying on with this. Woke rubbish is deeply unpopular, surely even those dinosaurs on the company board know this? The Human Resources department must have the entire company by the balls for some reason.

Oh, lovely. They've sent me a mo-ron.
It's going to be a Madden thread for now... mwahahahahaha

The cringe... it's too strong!
Doesn't that make him a target of abuse for entire teams to get red cards tackling Kapernick?

EA is going to decide what to do with Anthem soon... Whether to go with Bioware releasing its next big update to attempt to revitalize the two year old game... Or end it.

Or something in between I guess is always possible...

Here's a video from a former IGN game reviewer:

TLDW: Game reviews are basically just marketing, game reviewers don't actually think their reviews affect people's decision to buy ( because in fact industry reports say the actual game reviews - IE the actual scores given by reviewers - have little to no impact on game sales).

The reason why game dev companies participate in the review process is because its basically free advertising AND it highly increases brand involvement on the part of gamers.

I'd also say that Disney is primarily responsible for this.

EA absolutely knows how to make good RPGS (Dragon Age and Mass Effect, duh).

But at the same time, I can 100% guarantee that Disney put strict content restrictions in place for any Star Wars game. I can guarantee you that there is a Disney rep that has to greenlight all story / content restrictions in an any EA Star Wars game.

Hell, you can see the signs for yourself: every EA Star Wars game has been rated T for Teen. That was probably a requirement by Disney.

There's also the fact that even if you personally dislike Fallen Order and Squadrons, most people like them and think they're good games.

Once I get VR (hopefully this summer!) I'll pick up Squadrons and play it in VR.

A scandal that is doubly ironic since it's related to FIFA in this case.

EA employees allegedly selling rare items in the game FIFA 21 to players illicitly for hundreds of dollars.

Hell, I suspect EA is mad because they didn't have the idea themselves. "Roll the dice, OR, if you want this specific thing so badly, pay three- no, FIVE times the price of the lootbox and you can get this item right away! C'mon, we both know you want it!"

It'd be more than five times.
