I stumbled across #walkaway campaign on youtube as a recommended. Digging into it, it is one of the best movements, with a growing number of people.

According to the campaigns website it "Encourages and supports those of the left to walk away from the divisive tenets endorsed and mandated by the Democratic Party of today"

Link to youtube channel.

What do yall think?

This really is a few years old. It's been a while since I heard about it.

i used to have #walkaway as my title and my signature had a little sentence about it, on a sister site. People lost their fucking minds over it. I was called a Russian bot often.

I was a life long liberal, dedicated democrat voter. I walked away because the party and the people supporting it got very toxic and shot hard left.. I'll be voting Trump. I disagree with a good portion of republicans almost much as I always have, but I disagree with the radical left even more, and they refused to have discussions on those differences.. Full disclosure, I did skew rightward after having lots of good discussions with the right wing friends I made on said sister site. I'm still to the left of most of them, but they presented me good arguments and data, and it did cause me to shift right in some aspects.

Which is probably why the left considers rational discorse to be a tool of the far right. They refuse to have these kinds of discorse without insulting you and berating you, and they're scared of right wingers doing it because rational discussion might change minds.

These are of course generalizations, and there are exceptions on both sides..but what's it say when one side is willing and eager to have rational discussions with you, while the other wants to employ whatever power they can get hold of, to shut you up?

I walked away. And if any wayward moderate liberal finds themselves lost and browsing on this site, I want to let you know: you can, too.

The right is more in line with (classic) liberalism these days anyways. The left is no longer a home for liberals, but for intersectionalist, socialist, power hungry authoritarians.

I had the 'walkaway' hashtag in my sig elsewhere, and have seen how even discussion of the movement is suppressed by those on the Left for spurious reasons.

They know they've alienated a lot of the classical liberals and centerist-types, and do not want them trying to convince others to leave.

Though it seems more and more are walking away from the Dems, as the Far-Left has decided there is no room for anyone or any ideal/opinion/policy to the right of Bernie in the Dems.

I have a funny feeling this will cause the Dems to lose it come November. How many voters have they lost? What will they do if Trump wins the popular vote?

They'll claim it's rigged.

Please also ignore that for years they have been going on about how hard it is to rig elections, and that's why we don't need voter IDs.

The walk away movement is in my opinion probally the best thing that could happen to the democrats.

It tells them what went wrong and what they need to course correct to stay relevant, if they do lose big 2020 the walk away movement gives them all the info they need to rebuild the party.

No it doesn't. They have learned absolutely nothing since the GOP took back the house and Senate in 2010/12, and the presidency in '16, and they will continue learnig absolute no fucking lessons from their mistakes.

They just keep spiraling more left to cater to the radicals, and keep losing. Even their giant promised "blue wave" in '18 ended up being a tiny light blue splash.

Lol. I'm irritated at politics, but things are quite well on my end today. Been sitting around in a cafe enjoying some coffee while my car gets worked on. Just general maintenance, no issues. That's why I have free time to BS and rant on forums today. Pretty good day all around though.

There's a certain portion of the population, often called 'Karens' now, that love to morally grandstand and try to berate others into living how they think they should. Back in the 80's, that group in America was aligned with the religious right. In the 90's, that alignment started to wane, and by the 2000's there was only a rump left.

The publicly active portion of that population, is now firmly on the political left, and completely without the (often underplayed and sometimes ignored) moral principles that limited how nasty they could be when they tried to claim moral high ground from Christian principals, they've gone completely ballistic.

Frankly, losing most of that part of the population (though not all, there's still some moral elitists on the religious right), is one of the best things that has happened to the religious right.

And one of the most revealing things that has happened to the political hard left.

#Walk Away is in part a reaction to this. It's also a reaction to the fact that the hard ideological left that's always been driving the movement has actually always been that toxic, they just needed to hide it much better before they dragged the overton window more in their direction.

It's also a testament to how much legacy media and the tech giants conspire to control the public discourse. If any equivalent existed on the right, you'd hear about it constantly.
