Good Morning @gral. Anything crazy happening in Brazil because I've heard about Lula trying to form some economic dollar shtick with Argentine President Alberto Fernandez in trying to dismantle the US Dollar.
This subject is in flux right now, but here it goes: Bolsonaro's Economy Minister once(around 2020, IIRC) proposed a common currency between Brazil and Argentina. Back then, the idea was(rightfully, IMO) shouted down, and he never mentioned the subject again. Lula and PT brought this shit up again, with the enthusiastic support of Argentina(of course). Venezuela(again, of course) also expressed support for this nonsense.

After the outcry mentioning all the obvious problems with that idiocy, they are now saying that it would be used 'just in inter-country transactions'(initially between both countries, but it would certainly spread to other countries in South America). My hope is that they are forced to give up on this shit, but it's too early to tell what will happen.

@gral correct me if I am wrong, but I think the bastard Lula isn't governing as chill as he did back in '03 and later ?

Right?

He's not, but right now, things are just beginning: Congress goes into session tomorrow, with the elections of the presidents of the House of Representatives and Senate on the same day. After we get these, we may know where things will go to.

A bunch of leftie types were sperging out about the "fall" in deforestation numbers in January because the rate was slower than in December 2022 and this was proof "Love won".

Now we just had the worst February in a decade for deforestation since 2015 and there is deafening silence.

Basically they put out a bunch of tweets trying to pull a "gotcha" because the deforestation rate went down in January and claiming it was because Bolsonaro was out. And when people pointed out one month isn't enough to make that claim they either ignored it or doubled down.

Now stats for February came out and it has gone up and they ignore it.

In other news MSM has gone into a massive media blitz over Bolsonaro again. The reason being a "bribe" he supposedly got.

During 2022 there was a meeting between some arabs and Bolsonaro. Except he couldn't go in person so a team went without him. While in the trip the arab sheik or prince gave them a necklace for Bolsonaro's wife. One of the team put it on their bags, and when they arrived in Brazil our IRS equivalent took it and started the process if paper trailing it (official gifts like these aren't taxed like regular goods but must be added to the State's official proprety list) and it got stuck in the endless labyrinth of paper.

So now they are claiming this is some sort of absurd unprecedented bribe and Bolsonaro was trying to steal it.

It's a pathetically artifical controversy. They are screaming about it to distract from the fact a tax on fuel is coming back after Bolsonaro dropped it last year and the government has been announcing all sorts of new taxes like ones on games (both videogame and luck ones) and even considering taxes on sin like alchool.

Well this will become the most unpopular comeback ever.

I heard it from word of mouth but apparently even the

I also heard from one of the players of my DND campaign that Lula wasn't worse than Bolsonaro :

"Bolsonaro killed a lot of people. My boyfriend is from Curitiba."

I would have replied with hellfire if I could but that would have been an overreaction.

apparently this happened.

My, the delusion of the Brazilian thread on alternatehistory.com is really deranged :

"Finally we have an actual President" theme basically, this quote was the following to a pic of Lula getting his COVID19 shot.

Also it took a bit to find an actual thread on this shite of a site about Lula. The delusion is on par with alternatehistory.com but here they seem to have no illusion that Lula will govern well.

This is even worse

Bolsonarist congresswoman Júlia Zanatta (PL-SC) posts photo with machine gun and incites violence against Lula: "We can't let our guard down." On her blouse, she alludes to the president's hand pierced by three shots.
