So if we made railroads apart of the Military responsibility and budget would we have trains with autocannons and armor thicker than an Abrams? 😀

Look, I'm not sure anything short of nationalizing large amounts of the rail infrastructure, and putting it directly under the Corp Of Engineers ability to order work on at will, will unfuck the US rail network as is.

It's just that bad now.
That would not address any of the problems involved.
What it would take is a dramatic cut of regulatory red tape in infrastructure matters, including green pet peeves, and giving some teeth to regulations regarding stuff like messing around with hazmat or passenger safety, or being unreliable in contracts regarding performance.

Why not both?

Not memeing I’m honestly asking why not.

Ok, how about a compromise; Corp of Engineers acts as auditors of the rail lines and the regulatory body overseeing them, instead of the EPA, TSA, or DoT?

Use the ACE guys to figure out what regs are necessary for safety and steady, reliable commerce, and what is bureaucratic bloat.

Truly unfucking US rail would be a multi-decade effect at best, if we had bi-partisan support and started now.

See: Europe.
Even more than a lifetime's history of being nationalised is no guarantee of railways not being fucked. And considering current US government, they would proceed to do at least half the things that we are supposed to fix here.

At least it would make things simpler, that's a start. Excessive red tape is doing terrible damage to all areas of western economies, it's one of major reasons why they aren't like the "Asian tigers". Why bother with investment in industry or infrastructure areas where merely getting approval for it takes so long that no one can even tell if it's still going to be a good investment by the time it's done, if approved at all?

"If it doesn't get WEIRDER than this! 3 months ago East Palestine, OH was at the center of pilot program to respond to EMERGENCY situations

They gave digital ID's FOR FREE to residents to track long term health problems like "difficulty breathing". "

Really? I mean, come on, what are the odds?!?

Remember that leftist train fanboy that worked in the industry he was fanboying back on SB?
I wonder what his take on this would be.

In any case, it looks like another huge fail for that butt gig guy, you know, the one that only got to put into place because he is a neolib affirmative action candidate.

Methinks this might be an attempt on the part of the Obama faction that is allegedly behind Camelface to stop the Clinton faction from trying to push BootyGig into the presidency when they finally kick out Biden, and since he basically sided with the railroad companies against the various Railroad unions this is basically killing 2 birds with one stone for the Obama faction.

Or it was just an unfortunate and massively mishandled event brought upon multiple levels of incompetence and under-investment.

It's the last paragraph.

That's why they're going on about UFOs now and barely mentioning this in tne news. The ufo story was cooked up to take attention from this.

The average time mainstream news has spent on this crash as of Thursday was about 30 minutes. On 24/7 news stations when 20,000 minutes had passed since the crash.

They're REALLY trying to brush this one under the rug.

Fox ran this story the most, but they just tried playing culture wars with it and attacking Pete buttplug, rather than addressing the years of neglect, over worked staff, out dated technology, and failures of government and corporate greed that lead to this environmental travesty.

Yeah its your last paragraph.

Maybe, maybe it is a combination of the last and the first to last one.

The ruling elite swamp is not 100% monolithic they will try to step on each-other's bloody corpses to try and get to more power and grift, even if they are more than happy to work together to fuck you and me and all the Joe Schmoes over.

Using the Leftoids against themselves like this would be hilarious... and it'd probably work because they're too fucking stupid to realize they'd be played like suckers.

Trump: "I promise to build more Taco Bells in the Blue States."
Leftoids: "Quick, build more Taco Bells before he takes away our voting-base!"
Trump: "Heh, suckers. Enjoy the dysentry."
