Yeah, not surprised the Discovery writers/producers don't realize that a franchise with such a huge fandom with an ideologically and nationally diverse fandom is not the place where you want to bring in actual politicians.

That said, at least they got someone who was actually a Trekkie.

Also, Star Trek: Picard season 2 is alright so far. That said, season 1 started out decently as well, then went to shit at the end. I would like a Star Trek: Stargazer spinoff.

Should they have retconned the Stargazer into a Constitution Class?

I'm not sure why, there's nothing about the ship's design or configuration that makes it questionable for the era, and making it a Constitution, a class that was seemingly retired 50+ years ago, actually would be odd.

Fun fact, they were originally going to make it one:
Article:
The Stargazer was originally intended to be a Constitution-class vessel, the same as Captain Kirk's USS Enterprise. In fact, in the first draft script of "The Battle", the Stargazer was identified as not only being of that class but also from the "late 23rd century." The latter notion wasn't included in the episode's final draft script, which nonetheless still contained multiple references to the Stargazer as a Constitution-class ship. [2] Additionally, the yellow NCC-7100 model was replaced with a silver Constitution-class model in Picard's ready room for "The Battle". When the Stargazer filming model was eventually designed, it was decided that a new model, derisively referred to as the "pie dish", should be used. Since LeVar Burton had already recorded a line of dialogue identifying the ship as Constitution-class, the name of the new ship's class had to be similar to "Constitution" to make it easy to overdub; the production crew settled on "Constellation".

Not exactly sure why they switched to a new design, but it might've been due to the TMP Enterprise model being a massive bitch to work with.

The producers may also have wanted to fill out the fleet and show that there had, in fact, been more ships that had been in service over the previous century than just the Constitutions, Oberths, Mirandas and Excelsiors. It's kind of a big jump to go from those to the Galaxy class without having anything in between.

(Incidentally, this is one of the best parts of having CGI space stuff, is that it makes it easier to put in new ships. Even as a kid, I'd think 'Boy, there sure are a lot of Excelsior-class ships in Starfleet. Aren't they really old by now?' when I watched TNG.)

So apparently on Paramount+, they are not listing the first season episode "Duet" for DS9.
>Actually using Paramount's garbage service after all the shit they did.
Buy physical or learn to sail the seven seas, this type of corpo censorship was inevitable with the cloudd/as a service garbage, and you can expect scenes, pieces of dialogue, and whole episodes and series to be altered or removed until the original intent of the product is totally subverted and the quality is reduced to the drivel we get nowadays.
Oh, and back that shit up if you do have it physical.

That's one of the best episodes of the series.

Was that one of the episodes involving Quark's mom?

No, there were several of those. This one was the episode of the Cardassian who had plastic surgery to look like a major war criminal so that Bajor could prosecute a major actor in the destruction of their homeland in order for Cardassia to realize their crimes. It also served as a way for Kira to realize that not every Cardassian was a monster and they were actually a people.

This was the climax of the episode

Ah, yes, collective guilt and the desire to view the "enemy" as a mindless hive of inept monsters whose main motivation is Blood for the Blood God, or some such shit.

By the way, this discussion of spoonheads made me think of something, what happened to Damar, is he still on the shithole origin board, or did he just find a life and ditch places like ours altogether?

Damar was killed during the Battle of Cardassia, when he, Kira, and Garak were launching an assault on the Female Changeling to try and stop her genocidal orders.

What??? Duet is one of the best episodes of not just DS9, but of Star Trek period.

did it hit a little to close to the truth for the Cardassians in charge of hollywood?

Given their closeness to China, maybe.

Damar was killed during the Battle of Cardassia, when he, Kira, and Garak were launching an assault on the Female Changeling to try and stop her genocidal orders.

He means the guy using "Damar" as his screename on SB, not the character.

Ah, my mistake. The poster's still pretty active on SB, especially in White Hall, though he doesn't use a Cardassian avatar anymore.

Anybody know if there's something going on with Maritiza's actor?
Article:
Why isn't the show or episode I want to stream available on demand?

If a show or episode is not available, it's likely due to restrictions in streaming rights. But remember, with Paramount+, you have more than 30,000 episodes and movies to choose from, along with live sports like the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League! In addition, we've added programming from BET, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, MTV/VH1 and Smithsonian Channel, with even more on the way.
