Bad idea one that will cause the state to explode when the economy implodes

The economy won't explode. They have it all planned. And they are the good guys, on the right side of history! It will all work out! Their rule has worked so well so far to fix Orange Man's reactionary speedbump on the glorious march of progress! All they need to do is be a bit more progressive, raise a few more taxes, centralize the government a bit more, it will all work out! THE DIALETIC DEMANDS IT! THE MARCH OF HISTORY IS ETERNAL! WE HAVE FORTIFIED THE ELECTION ONLY TO PROTECT IT! WE ARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY!!!

This is why I think when modernity ends society will go hard core traditional.

I had a thought doodle recently where everything man-made that wasn't constructed using stone age methods and materials suddenly vanished.

I'm tempted to post it as a what if thread.

They nearly lost California, so it is now a permanently fortified state.
Could you elaborate on this? The recall election was 62-38, so it seems to me that pre-existing strategies were more than sufficient to get the job done. Is there a different election you're referring to?

Have you read Dies the Fire by S. M. Stirling? I haven't myself, but I've heard the premise and it sounds relatively close. (Medieval instead of stone age: no electronics, gunpowder, etc.) Things don't disappear but they stop working and it doesn't take long at all before there's little effective difference.

Unless ... when you say anything constructed with such technology vanishes, does that include structures like dams and levees? Even earthworks were built up with modern machinery. If levees vanish, do rivers become un-dredged?

Clearly, Californian Democrats don't agree with you; otherwise, they wouldn't be doing what they're doing. I wonder why? Maybe they know something you don't.

I haven't read that either.

In my thought doodle earthworks and dredging remain but anything made out of anything unavailable during the stone age vanishes. People also aren't teleported to a safe location so practically everyone who isn't barefoot on natural ground is facing a sudden fall - even if that fall is only the elevation your shoes and socks give you - and naked with no clothing or tools.

Note: The homo genus figured out how to control fire 1.7-2.0 million years ago. Homo sapiens is only 200-300 thousand years old.

Is that you, Mr Adama?

Though in the modern age of cyberwarfare, maybe the Cylons aren't bad analogs for e-war opponents and some of societal threats we face. Cylons would be right at home Antifa or BLM.

However going full stone age is a bad idea.

I read it.Somebody changed law of nature,so modern technology stopped working, but, after mass dying, people who hold take better technology then medieval - for example gliders,baloons,peniciline,4 crop rotation, and railroads for horse-pulled wagons.
And clippers for navy.

I think, that the same goes for us if technology stop working thanks to cyberwarfare. Those who survive with normal populations would still had AK47,cars,planes,and even primitive computers.
Others - dead or cannibals with sticks.

All 7.8 billion humans on earth die from mass starvation and thirst as every single farm, well, and water/food distribution mechanism ceases to exist. The end.

Not all, don't be silly. The Sentinel Island people will happily keep going. Many sub-saharan africans might notice donations and such dissapearing but would continue.

That being said, you are looking at some 7.6 billion dead though, so still a apocalypse.

That's what they want. These people are antebellum platationist wanting a return to (at least what they think is) fuedalism. They are ignorant of history and why things naturally evolved the way they did and as a result they are going to doom both themselves and us.

Yup.

Indigenous peoples (like the Sentenalese) would be fine. Everyone else would be screwed six ways to Sunday because we don't know how to do what they took for granted. Can you start a campfire without an ignition source like a match, lighter, or flint-and-steel?

In theory I know how to do it using a dry pointed stick and dry piece of wood. In practice it would be a long, cold, and dark night because I have no clue how find pieces of wood appropriate to the task.
