The only reason it's still effective in any way is because some people still use (neo-)Nazi to identify themselves and getting called one puts someone who isn't one on the defensive. They must often prove they aren't one to satisfaction of the accuser to avoid getting saddled with the label.

Being called a nazi in the west today, means that you don't support communism, child mutilation, totalitarianism, and pedophilia. It is most often applied to either small-government conservatives, or classical liberals, who have essentially jack-shit in common with actual fascism, and the people applying the term are usually authoritarians who think that your race makes you good or evil.

There's some degree of 'you'll know a person's character by their enemies' going on here. If you've earned the ire of the modern left enough for them to call you 'nazi,' that means that you've stood up for something.

Or you said something so utterly blindingly obvious that it violated their self-delusions. Like 'it's okay to be white.'

I agree in general sentiment.

However, the fact is there are legit racists and people who frankly do deserve the label of neo-Nazi (or at least WN/WS) that have tried to get the Right to cater to them and made it so the Left has some legit ammo.

If we ever want to eject the crazies from control of the Left, or at least depower some of thier insults, we cannot be silent about the opposite fringe of lunatics on the Right that provide legit justification for said insults/slurs.

We cannot be afraid to call out and 'punch Right', when needed, just as we call out and 'punch Left' regularly.

But when dealing with the left, we will never win their "you're a racist!" Game. The only way is to just not play it.

You are correct that when the Left use it to try to hit anyone Right of center, brushing it off is the right thing to do.

However, we cannot in turn allow actual racists/WN/WS to use that as cover to hide in and try to direct the course of the Right.

Kind've sad, honestly. Greg Gutfeld used to have a pretty entertaining show with 'Red Eye' years ago. Alongside Craig Ferguson's late show, it was some pretty funny (and easily-available) entertainment I watched on YT more times than I care to count.

I've seen some of Gutfeld's new show, but...it's a lot different. There's structure. Guests aren't drunk or cursing at each other. And the humor went a lot more Fox News-watching Boomer.

But I'm reasonably certain Colbert's just as crappy if not worse and I never thought the dude was funny. So...

Gutfeld is filling a niche I pointed out years ago.

I have been pointing out for years that Daily Show, Colbert Report (that's how far back my criticism goes,) and all these night shows are all left wing, but there's no real right wing competition.

Sure there was YouTube personalities with huge shows that are funny, like Crowder, but there wasn't a TV equivalent to these shows.

It's no surprise whatsoever that it's a hit. Part of that being that the left's "comedy" talk show audiences are spread out. There are a bunch of them. There's only one Gutfeld.

Same reason Fox News took such a huge market slice and dominated everyone else, or why conservative talk radio got huge back in the 80s and 90s. Underserved market that's nearly half the population of the country. The media elites are so entrapped in their left wing bubbles, and have been for decades, that they genuinely don't think there's a market for other views (or they view serving that market as immoral and thus not something they, or anyone else, should do.

We've also seen that happen in comics, as comics have become captured by progressives and more preachy, manga has exploded and become the driving force of the comic medium. Movies that appeal to the right often do much better than the critics expect, even when they are legit bad movies, because of that unmet demand.

I expect we'll start to see this happen in video games and other entertainment as well if they continue to push for wokeness. After all, that market is large, and you'll find a lot of money in such a market. It's one of thebreasons the prog left is so desperate to deplatform and try and rig people on the right out of the financial sector, they know the demand and money are there, but if people can never get it out or can't pay for it, it doesn't matter.

Also indie comics. Indie comics would by outselling establishment comics if it weren't for comics stores buying in bulk from the latter.
