I hate this quote but not as much as the person who made it...“Ultimately, saying that you don't care about privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different from saying you don't care about freedom of speech because you have nothing to say.” ― Edward Snowden
I can get the latter, but why the former?I hate this quote but not as much as the person who made it...
Because, that quote makes it seem like people who don't care about themselves are saying privacy for EVERYONE does not matter....I can get the latter, but why the former?
When people say it like that, that is what they are implying though.Because, that quote makes it seem like people who don't care about themselves are saying privacy for EVERYONE does not matter....
Except most of the time they use the phrase "Why do I need privacy?"When people say it like that, that is what they are implying though.
The proper reply is: "So does that mean I can put a camera in your toilet?"Except most of the time they use the phrase "Why do I need privacy?"

No, there is an implication there. Basically, 'I don't need privacy, so neither should anyone else'. It's a failure on that persons part to look outside themselves and stick up for basic freedoms, or it is a failure to understand that this stuff matters.Except most of the time they use the phrase "Why do I need privacy?"
